Silver Oak's Latest Release
One of the most famous wines in the world, and always a favorite, the Great wine Critic Robert Parker recently wrote the following about Silver Oak; "Silver Oak wines are supple, explosively fruity, and deliver copious quantities of glycerin, extract, and richness wrapped in generous quantities of American oak. Critics have argued that the wine does not age particularly well, but that has largely been proven a myth. I doubt it will last as long as Chateau Montelena, Dunn, or other Napa Cabernets with a 30-40 year aging potential, but these wines have a broad window of drinkability, being delicious at release, and able to sustain their fruit and character for 15 or more years."
The 2004 "Alex" is said to be possibly their best since the magnificent early 1990's Vintages. Stock is limited and the Pre-Sale price is good thru 8/5/2008. If you would like to taste this wine our Carlsbad store is hosting a tasting in our wine bar on thursday july 17th. Here are the winery tasting notes:
"The 2004 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a refined and complex wine that combines subtlety and depth. It has a dark ruby color with a deep red edge and displays aromas of fresh blackberries, violets, cola, nutmeg and licorice. In the mouth, the wine has a juicy attack and offers great expression of fruit and spice on the mid-palate. Its fruit-driven finish is long and elegant. Properly cellared, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2023."
